with Elana Stone & Brian Campeau, Tully Sumner
Bella Union, Thursday 24th September 2009

I had bought a ticket for the night weeks and weeks ago so I was looking forward to going to see Elana Stone and Flap! heaps by the time Grand Final week finally rolled around.

There was another function winding up when I arrived, cheers to the door staff for letting me in and hello to Catherine and the other staff who I introduced myself to later. I finally was able to give Flap! and Elana Stone their photos from the benefit show back in April and also the ones from the Queenscliff Music Festival last year.

Tully Sumner was up first and played a good few songs.

I didn't know Elana Stone was playing in a duo form now, they were asking for suggestions for a new name for their band. Things got a bit silly later on when Brian took off his pants in response to an audience heckle.

After seeing them do one song during a charity gig in April, I had been meaning to see Flap! but hadn't gotten around to it. I thought they were great and it was funny having Jess having to explain the context of her lyrics due to her parents being there. I managed to stay until the end of the set and encore and was still able to catch the tram home luckily. I have Robot vs. World coming up at the venue and hopefully Casey Bennetto later in the week.
