Burlesque Battle Royale 2

I knew this show was going to sell out after the success of last year's battle so I made sure to buy my ticket early. Thanks heaps to Sarah from Man's Ruin who helped me get a spot near the front to take photos after I met her group outside.

After drawing names out of a hat it was decided the Diamond Dolls Burlesque should go first. I thought they did well, but I didn't like the part with the fire extinguisher as it was already hot in venue and it made it worse.

Man's Ruin were up next and it was good to see them and how they had worked on their routines since I saw them last.

Queens of the Crossbones were interesting in that they were a burlesque magic duo and I liked their take on the woman in the box trick. The giant playing cards were also great.

It has also been a while since I saw Hi Ball Burlesque so it was great to see their new Elvis inspired routine. They perform with their partners in Hank's Jalopy Demons from time to time so I will have to get to one of those shows.

The Voodoo Trash Dolls have been inviting me to shows since last year's Suicide Girls DVD launch, but I am never able to go. I enjoyed their routines even though I got sparks in my hair during one of them and my camera battery ran out during the routine.

It was no surprise that Hi Ball Burlesque and Voodoo Trash Dolls ended up in a dance off for first place. I wanted the Hi Ball girls to win as I know them more, but the result was decided in the Voodoo Trash Dolls favour by the judges and the audience reaction.

Even though I was hot and tired by the end of the night (there were too many people to get to the bar), I did enjoy the show. Thanks to Sarah for buying me a drink after the preliminary contest. For some reason I decided to try and walk home, I made it as far as St Kilda, but decided against going to Topilinos this time.
