Dr Sketchy's Melbourne 4th Birthday

MC Molly Jean Morrison, Rosy Rabbit, Cath Jamison, Miss Honey Pot, The Town Bikes, The Huw Joseph Experience
Order of Melbourne, Saturday July 17th 2010

For various reasons I am no longer taking photos at burlesque gigs these days, but I was excited to hear of Mel having a 4th birthday party for Dr Sketchy's and had been looking forward to it for ages. I have been coming to Dr Sketchy's since 2006 and did originally come to see one of the burlesque performers I know but have enjoyed coming since then to see other people and talk to Mel.

My favourite Dr Sketchy's would still have to be the Christmas windows one held in the window of Mitchell McCabe at the end of 2007 as a few of us hung around later and had a great time (I usually had to head off early after the ones at the Butterfly Club.) It's good that it has moved to a Sunday now and I will try to make it more often in the future.

As it was a special night I decided bring Mel and friends some presents for the night and also the photo albums from the Community Cup/Espy Rockdogs Pie Night that we got to have a look at after.

Molly was great as the MC and very funny, I am looking forward to seeing her band in the future.

I hadn't seen Rosy Rabbit perform for a couple of years now, so it was great to see her again.

Cath Jamison was great as always and there was even a new illusion in the act involving voodoo dolls that I enjoyed.

Miss Honey Pot and Molly were excellent and really funny, especially when Miss Honey Pot gave Mel a surprise. The drummer as the musical accompaniment for the act also worked well.

I had seen the Town Bikes at the Tote's (for then) closing night and it was really great to see their new routine. It also reminded me why I enjoyed seeing going to see them in the first place and I am looking forward to seeing the new characters they introduced in their act in the future.

Finish off the night were the Huw Joseph Experience, who I hadn't heard of before, but I thought they went well and had all the girls singing along during their songs.

It was a really great night and I am exceptionally pleased with how my photos have turned out in particular as I thought it was very special to be there. As I said before, I will try to make it to more Dr Sketchy's sessions in the future.
