Kustom Lane Bushfire Fundraiser
Sunday 1st March 2009
I hadn't been working until recently, so unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to a lot of the bushfire benefits around the place. I had wanted to see the Flyin' Saucers, but I slept in and missed them, next time.
Ben Rogers' Instrumental Asylum was playing when I arrived and had a few people watching them and wandering around. I hadn't seen the new exhibition in the gallery so I had a few walks through to look at the work and also the cars people had bought down for the day.
Dire Fate played to quite a few people, which was great as it was also their first gig.
The auction was a great success with 75 items going up for sale on the day, raising lots of money for the bushfire relief funds along with all the other actives on the day including the sausage sizzle, drinks, raffle and sales of art from the gallery.
After the auction the Greasy Hawaiians got to play a set with Paul on the bass after he was missing at their last gig at the Greyhound. I thought they went great and hopefully they will play around town more often in the future.
I was going to stay to see the last two bands, but I forgot to bring a jumper and was working the next day so I went home for an early night. I am sure the bands went well and I will try to see them in the future.
