Memphis Stomp

with Suzannah Espie & Big Boy Lemonade, Collard Greens and Gravy, The Stomping Memphis All-stars featuring Sarah Carroll, Chris Wilson, Lil' Fi, Sweet Felicia, Jaimi Faulkner, Kerri Simpson, Jeff Lang, Dave Larkin and guests
Lomond Hotel, Wednesday 9th January 2008

Seems like only yesterday that Big Boy Lemonade was doing this when he was meant to be playing, so I was happy to come see Suzannah and Big Boy to help them get over to Memphis for the big contest. I hadn't had the chance to see Suzannah and Big Boy perform as a duo for some reason and I thought it was great to see them up first.

I haven't seen Collard Greens and Gravy for a while, so it was great to see them again. They crowd really liked them and Shortie lost his glasses at one point he was playing so fast.

In a never to be repeated line-up Sarah Carroll, Chris Wilson, Lil' Fi, Kerri Simpson, Jeff Lang and Dave Larkin each played a few songs each with Suzannah and band finishing off the night. Jeff Lang played a great version of Suzannah's song "Cool Rain" with Big Boy and Dave Foley doing the rain and thunder on the track.

It was a fun night and I am Suzannah and Big Boy Lemonade do well and have fun in the competition over in Memphis later in the year. Cheers to Ilana who was very busy behind the bar and Nick for driving me home after the show.
