Models Super Orchestra New Year's Eve Spectacular
with Rebecca Barnard, Stephen Cummings Fittingly the first show I went to at the Caravan Music Club was the New Year's Eve show with Continental Robert and it certainly seems a long time ago now even I had not been to over 100 gigs between the two. The Models Super Orchestra have become almost the house band for the Caravan as they only really play at the venue and a few private parties and it was good to see them again. I can't really say what my favourite gig at the venue was this year, they all had something good about them and there are now quite a few people who come to a lot of the gigs there and I saw hello to when I get the chance. Even if I do decide to go to half as many gigs in 2011 I will still make time to go out to the Caravan Music Club in Oakleigh. The opening act for the night was Rebecca Barnard and Billy Miller doing a short set in a revisit of their well received mother's day show. They were joined by Jack Howard for the last few songs. The Models Super Orchestra did two sets for the night with an early highlight being Happy Birthday IBM as they had to start it again when they forgot to sing the lyrics, I thought it worked just as well as an instrumental though. A special edition for the night was Stephen Cummings performing some songs from the sports, which went so well there was talk of renaming the band the Models Super Sporty Orchestra for their next performance. It was a good night and thanks to Melbourne Mick for giving me a lift home also and hopefully I can get more of my other friends to make the trip to the venue in 2011.
