with the Rebelles
I wasn't sure I was going to make this gig due to the closure of the Tote and not having any money, but luckily I go paid the day before and someone had asked me to come to it to see their friend's band, the Rebelles so I was looking forward to them.
I had seen a gig for the Rebelles advertised before, but it was on the same day as RRR BBQ Day and I was at the after party when they were on. There are 15 vocalists in the band, all of whom were the same costume and black bob wigs that look really cute. The songs are 60s pop classics and some originals that fit the theme. I am looking forward to seeing them in the future and hope my friend's band "Little Freddie and the Pops" get to play on a bill with them soon.
Strangely, I had not been to see ROOT! since the Queenscliff Music Festival in 2008 that I can remember, but I did buy their CD last year. A new addition as of this gig was Root! beer as DC Root said himself "we can't compete with British India so we've decided to go where all the money is and bring out our own beer" or words to that effect. I thought they would have done two sets for this show, but it was only one set and they were finished so early another photographer turned up expecting them to still be on when everyone was going out of the room. I enjoyed them and disturbingly also knew most of the words to their songs even though I only listen to their CD occasionally.
Afterwards I went with Emma to Cherry Bar in the city and stayed way too late, which I almost never do. I did get to meet some new people though and hopefully the "Pin-up bowling league" goes ahead soon.
