I was looking forward to going to this DVD launch as I would finally get to meet miss Lola Cherry Cola after only speaking to her via email and sending a CD with the photos from the last time I saw Man's Ruin Burlesque perform. I even managed to get a friend to come with me this time as he wanted to meet her also. I also got to meet some of the other beautiful ladies from Man's Ruin Burlesque and even took a photo of them before their show.
The Suicide Girls website must be popular in Australia given the amount of people who turned up to the DVD launch. I have heard about the site but I haven't visited it before. The five minute preview clip they showed from the DVD look good though.
There were hundreds more people than I expected there on the night and the bar staff are less than helpful (it took my friend 20 minutes to get served), but I really enjoyed the night despite it being so crowded I left after two hours.
However, I did get to see the Voodoo Trash Dolls perform and they are a great punk style burlesque act who I am sure will get a lot of people coming to their shows around town.
Man's Ruin Burlesque also came out and did two dance numbers that were very well received by the crowd. They were going to perform later, but I didn't want to stay squashed up the front with all the people so I left early. I don't think I will go the Ding Dong again though as although I don't think it is "the worst fuckin' bar he has ever been to" like my friend did, I don't really like it there as it is not my kind of scene.
