Even though I had seen them on Thursday night, I always enjoy the opportunity to see a band twice in the same week (or even the same weekend as I have done with GIT.) The Re-mains are on tour and won't be coming back to Victoria until September so I wanted to see them one last time.
My friend had been to their CD launch on Friday and really enjoyed herself, so I was looking forward to seeing them play two sets with a possibility of an encore like what happened last time I saw them at the Retreat Hotel.
I usually go to the Pint on Punt on Sunday afternoon, but this week I wanted to see how far it was to walk down there. I arrived at the venue just after 7.30pm and almost immediately met some people (Paul, Jules, Adam & Kate) who were talking to someone from the band and said I could sit with them.
It does make a big difference seeing a band with someone else, even if you just met them that night as most of the time the only people I know in the room are the band. I also must thank them for buying me a drink and giving me a lift home afterwards so I could stay to see both sets.
The band is building up quite a following in Melbourne now as I saw a couple of people who went to their gig on Thursday and some real down-home country fans. I will be looking forward to seeing them in September and will definitely try to get to a gig if they play at the Retreat again.
