Van Walker Bush League Bard CD Launch
with Duncan Graham & his Co-Accused, The Junes, Jimmy Clinkerfield & His Miserable Little Bastards I had been looking forward to this gig for ages and was planning a big night to go along with it. As it happened I ended up having to go home to bed for a couple of hours and then ended up going out by myself, but I still made it back to Tiki Lounge Bar and Gleny promised to come when she is down for the Lil' Band O' Gold tour. Unlike last time I was able to walk straight into the band room and thanks to Gleny for putting extra holes in my belt as my pants kept falling down (my belt was too loose.) I was surprised by the band starting on stage as I had forgotten there was an actual CD launch on at the venue by that stage. I don't remember seeing Duncan Graham & his Co-Accused before, but I thought they were good. The Junes played on the side stage they called "the minge stage" and I was talking to them normally when they were meant to be starting (whoops), it was great to get to see them play to sets and almost made up for not being able to see them the night before at the Union. Van Walker had a lot of his friends from Tassie and even a few walk-ups who turned up later in the night that I think had not seen him before. It didn't really feel like a normal CD launch as it was so casual the whole night. I was planning to stay afterwards to have a few drinks with Van and the crew but was still tired after the night before and probably should have stayed home the next night when I met Van and Liz in Northcote, but these things happen. Van is going on tour with the album and hopefully lots of people buy the album and go to see him.
