St Kilda Bowling Club, Saturday 24th September 2011
I had missed the last couple of Day by the Green gigs due to having something else on or being sick so I was determined to make this gig even if I wasn't sure how long I was going to make it through the day. I really wanted to see Teddy Turner and the Bunsen Burners at least as I had never seen them before.
Originally this event was going to be a fundraiser for Dirty Kirty's cancer treatment, but unfortunately he passed away before the date came around so it became more of a celebration of his life with all the bands playing having some connection to him.
There were quite a few bands playing one of their first couple of gigs or playing one-off appearances after not playing for a while.
In the end I did end up staying for a couple of extra bands as the Patron Saints moved up the bill and I ended up seeing the Dezperados before Teddy Turner and the Bunsen Burners came on. While it would have been good to see the last three bands, I felt I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if I tried to stick it out until the end just for the sake of photos.
It was a great day all round and hopefully some more of the bands will play in the future.
