The Felice Brothers at the Caravan Music Club 24/04/11

with Caitlin Rose
Caravan Music Club, Sunday 24th April 2011

I had heard a lot about the Felice Brothers and that they had tried to tour before but have had to cancel.

The band had played at the Prince Bandroom on Thursday but I was at Tony Joe White's show. It was lucky the band was doing this show as originally they were meant to be in New Zealand on this date but that show didn't work out.

Support for the night was Caitlin Rose who was really great, I enjoyed hearing her on RRR the previous day and I got to talk to her after the show. Hopefully she comes back to do a full tour soon.

It was a standing room only show, but not as many people as I thought got up and danced. My friend had been to their show the previous night in Meeniyan and enjoyed it. The fiddle player even jumped off the stage at one point to encourage the crowd to dance more.

There were quite a few people at the venue I had not seen before, unfortunately a lot of the regulars were up at Byron or at other festivals, but quite a few came down straight from Boogie in Talarook and I even came back to Melbourne a day early for it and it was worth it.

I thought the night was great and it was the best international act I have seen since Lil' Band O' Gold last year, I hope they come back soon.
