with Van Walker and Liz Stringer
Thornbury Theatre, Saturday 6th August 2011
I had been looking forward to this for ages, but was worried that not enough people would turn up as I have been to some other gigs there were there could have been more people.
Van and Liz were up first and you wouldn't have even known they were on stage at times with Van posing for photos and putting his whiskey on top of Liz's head, it was funny at the time.
I had heard about Zoe K and the Shadow Katz, but as they live in Newcastle I had not had the chance to see them as yet. It was good that they got to play such a nice venue for their first gig and I am looking forward to seeing them the next time they come down.
Gleny Rae and her Tamworth Playboys have had a line up change since last I saw them, but are still great and I enjoyed finally hearing some of Gleny's new songs along with some old favourites. The definitive answer as to who Gleny came to be on "Go Back to Where You Came From" was also given on the night (it was a long story but due to "Redneck Love Song".)
As the gig started a bit late, it didn't finish until after midnight and thanks to Ilana for giving me a lift to the Lomond afterwards so I could still get a tram home. I ended up getting to bed quite late, but it was a good night.
