with the Bluebottles, the Exotics
The Tote, Tuesday 24th April 2012
I wasn't going to be able to make the Dig It Up festival so I was looking forward to this side show and also the Sonics later in the week.
The Bluebottles played first and it was good to see a young band doing the surf rock thing as I hadn't heard a local band doing that style music since the Beachchromers who I haven't seen in ages.
The Exotics were reliably good as always and it was great to see them again as I don't remember seeing them for a while.
Unfortunately due to the Tote being the size it is and the number of people who wanted to get out the back, I ended up being squashed against the speaker when the 5678's came on and could only take about half a set worth of the loud speaker in my ear and people pushing forward. Was lucky I left when I did as a stage invader was thrown off the stage and knocked someone out near where I was standing. I couldn't see squat from up the back so I ended up just buying a CD and leaving early. Cheers to Bernie for the drink and the chat before the gig and I am sure everyone had fun at Dig It Up the next day.
