Barbariön Halloween Party 2012

I last saw Barbariön on the eve of the Community Cup and was looking forward to this gig even though there were a lot of parties on this year and the launch a horror film festival that I had to miss to make it. There seemed to be more advertising for Halloween in general this year, the companies involved must want people to eat more lollies and junk.

As usual I was the first person in Ding Dong due to forgetting how late people still turn up there, although the gig this week did go a bit later than usual. There was a bit of a hold up at the start, but eventually Bunny Monroe played what turned out to be there last ever gig, which I did not know before I arrived. I had last seen them perform at the Community Cup earlier in the year and at least I got to see them again before they finished.

The Vice Grip Pussies are getting a good following now and dressed up as the Village People for the gig, even doing one of their songs. I do not remember the lead singer jumping off the stage that much whilst playing, must have been influenced from their gigs with the Bittersweet Kicks.

It was getting late by the time Barbariön took the stage, as it turned out I decided to leave half way through as it was 12am and I wanted to be able to get a tram home. They did have pyro on stage for once and lots of smoke (so much the warning buzzer for the fire alarm kept going off), I wouldn't have expected they would have been allowed to do pyro in the venue given the history, but there you go. One of the lead singers from the band also belly bashed me out of the way when he was going through the crowd. I did not mind leaving early this time as there were a couple of other photographers there this time and I had enough fun that night already.
