Brothers Grim and the Blue Murders at the Tote 18/05/12

with the Murlocs, LA Bastard
The Tote, Friday 18th May 2012

I wasn't sure if I was going to this gig, but I saw James from Brothers Grim at a birthday party a couple of weeks before and he asked me to come along. I also finally had the chance to see LA Bastard as they always seemed to play when I had something else on.

The Murlocs played well considering the stage lights were stuck on strobe for their entire set. Strangely enough this didn't really cause that much problem taking photos.

Cheers to Jimi from LA Bastard who is unfortunately going to leave them soon just as they are kicking on. The two guitarists seemed to spend as much time off stage as on it and Anna very cute, especially when she did one song with her arms around my neck. I will have to talk to her more when I see the band next time.

I was surprised at the amount of women in the audience by the time Brothers Grim came on stage, almost as many as the 5678's gig I went to last month. Also there were some new super-eager fans who wanted to jump and down a bit at the front, but it wasn't as rough as something like Mach Pelican, most of the time I was getting hit by hair. I did enjoy the Black Sabbath-type start on one of the songs James had been talking about.

Even though the gig was meant to go to around 12.30am, I found myself up the back around half way through. Anna and the guitarist from LA Bastard convinced me to buy their CD and I caught a tram home via Brunswick St and Big Lou's donuts due to not having dinner earlier.
