Cup Day at the Retreat Hotel 2012
with Sweet Jean, The Nymphs, Mustered Courage, The Rechords
I did not see Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, Mikelangelo and the Tin Star
Retreat Hotel, Tuesday 6th November 2012
I had already had a busy long weekend by this point, so any bands I got to see on the day were a bonus. Cheers to Al and his friends who let me sit with them at least until the rain and the thunderstorm came.
It was good to see Sweet Jean play again and I got to see most of their sit sitting down and just finished my lunch in time for the rain to start.
The Melbourne Cup was put over the speakers and most people crowded under cover to watch it, I didn't care that much either way.
The rain was pretty heavy by the time the Nymphs played and also thunder and lighting. People still stuck around to watch them though and danced in the rain.
Relocating inside Mustered Courage played a great set and even had quite a few girls dancing.
The next performer, Max Savage, never turned up so after a bit of a delay the Rechords played at their proper start time and had lots of people dancing, even Bek from the Nymphs.
I was getting a bit tired towards the end of the Rechords and if I stayed longer I could have seen the last two bands, but I would not be having fun. I will try to see them in the future. I hear the gig at the Tote also went well, but there were no photographers there at all, strange considering all three nights of the Cosmic Psychos had a film crew and several photographers.
