with the Velocettes, Peep Tempel
John Curtin Bandroom, Friday 22nd June 2012
I was originally going to go see Liz Stringer at the Caravan, but this was going to be Jimmy's last gig so I had promised I would try and make it.
The Velocettes were a band I had heard of, but not seen before. I thought they went well and look forward to seeing them again.
The Peep Tempel were a surprise, it did seem like some of the crowd turned up just for them on the night as I looked around and suddenly the room was full. The lead singer has quite a lip on him and talked about making lamingtons, stretching and having an affair with Gina Rinehart. They are going over to Europe soon and should be popular.
LA Bastard had planned a big sending off show for Jimmy and going away party for two of their members and it was. Dancing hula girls, the two guitarist more off the stage than on it and half the audience on stage dancing at the end. It seems a shame that this will be their last gig until near the end of the year. Best of luck to Jimmy in his future endeavours.
