RealiTISM at Station 59 14/04/12

with Kieran Butler, Sean Kelly (Leek Van Vlalen)
Station 59, Saturday 14th April 2012

I had saw this was on the previous week, but I had gone home to my parents for Easter and couldn't make it.

Kieran Butler is a big TISM fan and has also been doing stand up comedy for a few years including the show "How Collingwood Ruined My Life" and also had another show on this year at the same venue where he played Andrew Bolt.

I got confused when I heard Sean Kelly was in this show, but it turned out to be a different one from the one I thought. He originally was Leek Van Vlalen in TISM and left about 1991.

It was good to finally have someone playing some of the old TISM songs again as DC3/ROOT is great and all, but it is different to TISM. Yes, TISM would probably make fun of the concept, but that is the point of it.

Having only two people the songs were acoustic and sing-along at one point with a few Q&A sessions thrown in. It was good to hear some of the things as I didn't know them even if some of the super-fans already seemed to know everything. They also were rewarded with some audience participation and getting to dance at the end. I enjoyed the song with the violinist also and next time will bring more money for the pass around tip-jug at the end and maybe stay for some more shows if I am not busy.
