with MCs Derek Guille & Mikelangelo, Brian Nankervis & Rusty Rich
the Spoils Duo, Lisa Miller & Shane O'Mara, Mikelangelo, Mikey Maden & Davey Lane, Saint Jude, Charles Jenkins, Chris Wilson, Jeff Lang, Alison Ferrier, the Cartridge Family
Basement Discs, Saturday 21st April 2012

I had been looking forward to this day for a while and luckily I did not have the ASRC benefit on the same day as last year. There were some good looking events at other stores, but the line up at Basement Discs still had the most people I knew on it. I arrived early enough that I had time to have breakfast at a cafe upstairs and did my shopping for the day when I arrived and left it behind the counter.

Derek Guille and Mikelangelo were the MCs for the first half of the day and held a music quiz between the acts. Rusty Rich and Brian Nankervis finished off the day and Brian even did some "Million Dollar Riff" questions with the help of the counter staff.

I hadn't seen the Spoils duo since last year so it was good to see them again as it was Lisa Miller as I last saw her at the Caravan Music Club back in December.

Mikelangelo was funny and even interacted with the audience during one of his songs and mentioned the dude with the giant quiff.

Mikey Maden & Davey Lane played well, but I was hungry by this stage and went up to Dinkum Pies for lunch, they were playing their last song when I came back.

I had been asked to go take photos at Saint Jude's EP launch the night before, but I had a night off. I will try to see them in the future.

Charles Jenkins was great and has a new album coming out soon and also the Winter Ball in July.

It has been a while since I saw Chris Wilson so it was also good to see him again.

Jeff Lang went well and his daughter joined him on stage, much to the audience's amusement as her frowny face made people laugh and take pictures, which she was not happy about.

Alison Ferrier also played and also did a guest spot in Jeff's set as he did in hers. I did end up buying Alison's CD as I missed her CD launch the week before.

The Cartridge Family finished off the day with Jeff Lang playing guitar with them also. I am looking forward to their CD launch later in May.
