The last time I went to a Rock'n'Roll Wrestling match was back in 2007 at the Greyhound pre-renovations.
I know there have been various other nights such as Wrestlerock, Rock'n'Wrestling and even La Lucha nights with all-girl wrestlers, but they didn't have Mr Damage and they were not Rock'n'Roll Wrestling.
I had been meaning to go to a gig at the House of Rock at the Palace for a while, but I always seem to have something on. Even the night where they had ten bands on the bill I had the Star Wars burlesque show on.
It was good to see a lot of the old heads from the Greyhound days down at the match as I said hello to Jeff and Kaos in the crowd and a lot of people who go to the regular wrestling matches also seemed to be out. The cheap drinks also helped people be more vocal towards some of the wrestlers, but some of it seemed to be like in jokes so they gave as good as they got.
The first match was with Chris Trance with Shane Hero vs. Mad Dog who was the underdog for the match, but also the crowd favourite. Unfortunately, Mad Dog didn't make it, but he did challenge the two to a rematch next time.
The Tag match between "Hardway Inc." Mike Burr & Jay Andrews vs. Enforcer & Ryan Rollins was action-packed with the Enforcer and Ryan Rollins wanting to humiliate the other two wrestlers by at one point dropping one of the other wrestler's head on to his team-mates' nuts and making them kiss each other. After a tough bout the Enforcer and Ryan Rollins came out the winners.
Special guest for the night was Mario Milano and also Tony, a referee from the 1970s who was warmly received by the crowd. Mario also had a ringside seat for the all-girl match and seemed to enjoy it.
The all-girl match was KC Cassidy vs. Nakita Naridan. KC Cassidy was the glamour-girl and suck-up to the ref and Nakita played the bad girl. Any wonder I took more photos for this match, but I had to as it only lasted about 10 minutes with the main matches going for 20. There was plenty of entertainment on offer however.
I hadn't actually seen Destroy She Said before this gig, I thought they went OK. I am sure they will get some more bands in the future and hopefully try out having one band before the matches and one in the intermission.
The triple-header match was Dowie James vs. Tre vs. Carlo Cannon. Carlo was sneaky as he tried to team up with both the other wrestlers to beat the other one, but he ended up getting hammered himself. Lots of flying dreadlocks in this match and a surprise win from Carlo in the end.
The main event was Krackerjak vs. 'King' Huss. King Huss' promoter was a bit of a nob and wanted people to bow before him. Krackerjak played the people's hero as always and seemed to do well at it, even drinking a beer offered to him at one stage. It was a brutal match and I almost ended up with the wrestlers on top of me in a ring-out. They came all the way out of the ring right up to the bar. It was looking badly for Krackerjak at one stage, but eventually he managed to triumph.
For the first night back I thought it went great and next time I will try to bring more people and not take as many photos. Mr Damage promised to run the night more regularly and bring some more wrestlers out just for the night so it should be good.
