Unpaved 1st Anniversary

with Sean McMahon's Western Union, Saint Jude, Liz Stringer
Northcote Social Club, Saturday 7th October 2012

With the Caravan Music Club three train stops away and being able to walk down to the Flying Saucer Club, I don't get north of the Yarra as often as I used to. Also Sundays are when I have been having a rest recently. I did see Les Thomas from Unpaved at the Gram Parsons Tribute and ended up agreeing to take some photos at the anniversary show though.

It was interesting to see how the bands turned out as there was discussion as to who it would be best to pick. I thought it was a good line up and was the first time I have seen some of the bands play so early.

Sean McMahon's Western Union played first with Alison's two kids running around going AHHHHHHHH! and doing headstands on their dad. They went well for the early crowd to the gig.

I had met the drummer for Saint Jude having his breakfast souvlaki outside the venue earlier, it seemed a lot of people also had a late night including the organiser. Although I would like to see Saint Jude more often, I am usually busy. It was a good show.

It was great to see Liz play again and as happened at the Tote gig I ended up just watching for half the set, although this time from up the back as I was tired. I may have closed my eyes a couple of times but I swear I didn't fall asleep. It was a good day, next time I will try to get some sleep the night before. I was planning on going to two more gigs after but did not make it.
