Aluka CD Launch 03/05/13

I had not seen Aluka for quite a while and had been looking forward to the launch after watching the videos for the new album online.

The launch was going to be the day after I was going to see They Might Be Giants, but Aluka still encouraged me to try and make it.

I had been past the venue many times, but had never actually been to a gig there, it was appropriate given the different spaces the band had recorded their album in and also they could have an all ages show without the usual restrictions.

It turned out to be very cosy with the mulled wine and cupcakes, I did see one person surrounding themselves with pillows and rugging up though.

I had heard Brighter Later on RRR doing a song live to air and enjoyed them on the night.

Aluka were great on the night and performed their whole album from start to finish with entertaining anecdotes relating to the recording of most of the songs. I did like the off mike song at the end and hopefully they will play at Stoked on Hesse during the Queenscliff Music Festival in the future.
