with Georgia Fields, the Bluebottles, Spender, the Red Brigade
DJs Evelyn Morris, Jen Cloher, Josh Earl
and special performance by the "Mystery Dancer"
Northcote Social Club, Saturday 8th June 2013
I enjoyed this show last year so I was looking forward to this show and also making and getting someone else's mix CD.
Being the long weekend, unfortunately not as many people as last time turned up. I had fun and even danced when Josh Earl put "Dancing in the Dark" on during his set.
The Bluebottles played first and I always enjoy their stuff and look forward to seeing them in the future.
Spender is a new performer for me, but I thought he went well and did some stuff with a delay pedal that is always interesting.
The Red Brigade was pretty special, I did not expect them to be what they were at all as I had never heard of them before. Although it would have been funnier if there was a big crowd in the room for them to go through, it still went well and I will look out for them around town in the future.
Just before Georgia came on there was a special mystery guest who did Gangsta's Paradise and then a strip interpretive dance to Enya's "Sail Away", as you do.
It was great to see Georgia and band again as I had enjoyed her doing the Bowie album a second time. Some of the Red Brigade even came back for the last song with the band.
I was going to leave a bit early, but really wanted to get a mix CD, to which I proceeded to getting my hand stuck in the box like a monkey with its hand in the coconut. Georgia had to rip the box apart and I was lucky enough to get the mix CD she made, which was great.
