Richard's 40th Birthday

I first met Richard when his band played at the Pint on Punt with the Twits back when it was their regular gig place, for some reason I took a lot of photos of chimps that night also.

I had enjoyed going to his birthday gigs also at the Pint on Punt and even went to the last gig before the Hybernators went on hiatus. Richard is also one of the only people who has invited me to his place out of the hundreds of bands I have been to see and I have also taken some photos for him there. The Hybernators once held the record for the most times I had photographed the same band.

Having also photographed BoxWars since 2008, Richard also does the running commentary for it so it was great Ross and Hoss could make it. I missed the battle at the Greyhound with the Dalek for the Hybernators gig, but had enjoyed the other ones they had done with the band.

I finally got to meet Richard's parents and the rest of his family, I don't usually get to do that either.

The Dark Shadows came down from Sydney just for Richard's birthday and did a great first set, it has been a while since I saw them. They have been a lot of overseas touring and support for some big acts.

Special guests for the night with the Hybernators were Anton and the original drummer who I only saw one time with the band. Nancy is still overseas unfortunately. There was even a mystery trumpet player. Everyone did get up the front to dance and had a great time.

I don't often get to do it, but I did join everyone when they went down to Topolino's afterwards and thanks to Rosa for giving me a lift down. Happy 40th Richard.
