Even though I thought I was going to be on time for this, in the end it had already started by the time I arrived. No biggie as at least I got to see a couple of songs by the Young Charlatans (Harry Howard / Mick Harvey / Angela Howard / Phill Calvert) and they did look pretty happy on stage, so much so that MC Dave Graney told everyone they had used up the smile quota for the night.

Ron Rude did an interpretive dance to "Cracked Portait" as well as singing, which was unique.

Tex Perkins was running late so Harry Howard stepped in to do one of the Birthday Party songs.

There were quite a few guests for the These Immortal Souls songs, Gareth Liddiard and JP Shilo were some of the better performers. JP Shilo was the star of the night being on stage for most of the songs.

Some of these guests also did another song during the tribute to Rowland S Howard's solo work, Tex Perkins turned up to do his song and Dimi Dero and Tex Napalm also did some really good songs themselves.

Finishing off the night were Harry Howard and Mick Harvey doing Shivers, which sort of turned into an audience singalong. It was a great end to a fantastic night.

There was a lot of work that went into organising the gig and everyone did great to learn all the songs in such a short time. Some of the performers even came from interstate and overseas to just play for the two nights.

It was also a great way to launch the St Kilda MEMO venue and I will see how I go about getting to shows there in the future.
