I did not get to see Chris Russell's Chicken Walk, Spencer P Jones and the Escape Committee, Bittersweet Kicks
Prince Bandroom, Friday 25th April 2014

I woke up with a headache but was still looking forward to the day. I was not sure if I was going to make it through to the end but at least wanted to try.

As is my want I turned up at 1.30pm for doors at 2 only to be told that they weren't opening until 3pm and bands were still going to start.

We did eventually get in and went up to the balcony to see the first few acts. There was meant to be a screening of Wake in Fright but projector issues meant it didn't happen. I did get to see Ross Evans, Bobby Harrow and the Black Molls.

Sound issues meant the bands moved inside earlier than planned with Suzie Stapelton and the Drunken Poaches playing on the main stage. Not sure how they would have gone on the balcony as only fifty people are allowed out there.

I was looking forward to seeing the Heartbrokers, Van Walker's new band and the first time Van and Cal had played at the Prince since 2005. They played really well and I am looking forward to seeing them again.

I did get to walk around and say hello to people but did not have any money so I could not drink. Thanks to Van for buying me a drink.

The HITS were recommended to me by someone from the Kicks so I wanted to stay for them even though my headache had never really gone away.

I thought the Submarines and Sheriff went well and by the time the HITS started I was well and truly ready to go home. Carbie had arrived by then so I was happy to let someone else cover the late shift as by that stage I had been at the gig for seven hours. I did enjoy the pizza I had at Topilinos quite a bit and hopefully everyone had fun with the other bands.
