with Tek Tek Ensemble & DJ Jumps
Howler, Friday 20th June 2014
There were a lot of gigs I could have gone to on this night including Graveyard Train's first show in a year, Bob Log III and others but I decided go to the Bombay Royale's launch as I had been enjoying their new album and wanted to see them again after seeing the first part of their set at the Viva Festival earlier in the year. The Island of Dr Electrico was album of the week on RRR not long back so I got to hear most of the songs again there also.
I had not been to Howler before and wanted to see what it was like as a venue. Due to being very keen I arrived around 8pm only to find the support was not starting until 9.15pm so I had to wait around.
Support for the night was Tek Tek Ensemble, who I had not seen before but had some familiar members in the line up. I enjoyed all their songs including the ones in different languages and the spaghetti western style number they played with two people playing the same drum kit. I would go to see them if they played somewhere close to me.
The Bombay Royale ended up starting around 11pm and the room was packed by the time they started, I ended up stuck in the one spot taking photos but still managed to get some good shots luckily. It was a great show and each member of the band got to have their time to shine on stage. Even though I left at the start of the encore I still enjoyed the show and hopefully the album launch tour goes well as does the band's international gigs.
