After Casey and Scott retired from running this event last year, I was happy to see that Wes Snelling picked it up to continue on with it as I always thought of it as the best and funniest thing during the comedy festival and one of the highlights of the year. I bought a ticket back in February for it as soon as they went on sale. Luckily this year it was not late at night and I did not have anything on the next day.

It was an interesting theme as you do not think of Fred Astaire being a singer as he is more famous for his dancing. A lot of the songs are quite familiar also and it was good to see a really mixed audience. The atmosphere and venue was great and they even had afternoon tea being bought out by women wearing aprons on silver trays, it was quite pleasant.

Many of the same performers from previous ASRC benefits returned with some new additions. I do not see a lot of people for the rest of the year so it was great to see them again. Geraldine Quinn was meant to be performing, but got the day mixed up so Casey Bennetto had to take her place.

The pace of the day was a lot more relaxed than the other benefit gigs I had been to. There were two breaks during the performance for people to go get some refreshments and it did work with the pacing quite well.

I don't want to pick out a favourite performer as they all went quite well. The band was really good too and I go to shake hands with Enio Pozzebon as I have not seen him since last year.

The day was very successful for fundraising and raised $3000 for the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre, which they will need with their new facility opening in Footscray this year and over 4000 people being helped by them now.

Even though I did not get to see many comedy festival shows this year I was glad to be able to get to this. I am looking forward to next year's show already.
