Chick Ratten Tribute 12/07/14

Grand Wazoo were not able to play due to unforseen circumstances
as part of the Leaps and Bounds Festival 2014
Rainbow Hotel, Saturday 12th July 2014
Even though I had already had a busy couple of days with the Leaps and Bounds Festival I still wanted to try and make it to this gig as it seemed such a good line up. I never went to the Rainbow that much back in the day, but the bands playing on the day had and I have enjoyed seeing them at other venues. Unfortunately I started feeling unwell on the day, but I wanted to see how far I could get through the lineup.
I keep meaning to see Kerri Simpson, but there seems always be other gigs on when I am going to see her so it was good to see her finally.
Andy Baylor is now living up in Sydney so it was great to see him on a rare performance in Melbourne.
I went down the street to get dinner and returned to see the last part of Dave Hogan's Meltdown who I had not seen since 2005 on the Blues Train at the Queenscliff Music Festival.
The Band Who Knew Too Much ended up playing at the same time as the clip of them playing on the short film about the last days of live music at the Rainbow Hotel, which bought much cheers from the audience. It was a bit too crowded for Dave to walk around much, but he did get up on a table at least.
Suzannah Espie did a special set playing with Matt Walker, who I had not seen for quite a while. They did one for one with their songs and it was great to see them both.
I was beginning to fade when Sarah started, but did stay long enough to hear Chick Ratten's partner give her thanks and Suzannah did a song with Sarah.
It was a great day and hopefully they can do it again in the future.
