the Kelvin Club, Friday 24th October 2014
Dan's new album had been coming for a while and I was happy to help support the funding campaign so it could finally get finished.
The last time I was at the Kelvin Club was for the Nymphs album launch, which happened to be on the same time as White Night so getting home was interesting. No such problem this time and they stage was also changed around a bit so there was some elevation this time. Everyone seemed happy enough to stand this time so I did not get stuck on one side or another.
The albums' producers Marcel Borrack and Tim Harvey played in the supporting band, Marcel playing keyboards supposedly for the first time. Nathan Farrelly and Ash Davies rounded out the band.
While all of the tracks from the album were played, they were not in order as sometimes happens with launches. I thought it went well and Dan even managed to fit in Bernie and Stuck in Melbourne for the second encore.
It finished pretty early so I ended up just getting a late dinner instead of staying at the venue drinking with Dan until 3am, which is what happened after the Night Parrots release. It is a good album and I hope more people end up buying it. Dan's next gig will be RRR BBQ Day, then après BBQ Day at the Lomond and the Christmas Dan and Al show at the Corner.
