Heel Burners 2014

I had enjoyed the last Heel Burners event late last year and wasn't sure if I was going to make it due to having MIFF stuff on. I was asked to come and take photos, but luckily was able to fit in the world premiere of Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films and then left straight at the end of it. Unfortunately, it meant I missed the first band but I wasn't going to be able to see the movie otherwise.

There was some contrast between the bands with some of them being more hard rock than others, but overall it was a good night.

It was good to see La Bastard again after not seeing them since Jimi's last gig with the band. I ended up doing the Clapping Song dance with Anna from the band the next week for her birthday and the audience also sang her happy birthday on the night.

I had not heard of Mangelwurzel before and the ukulele player said hello before the show. They said they had been sprayed with a fire extinguisher twice at the same gig before.

It was getting quite lat by the time Mojo Juju came on, but it had been a good night and I was happy to leave by then so I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not seeing all of her set.

There is not going to be another Heel Burners gig this year due to the organiser going overseas. Hopefully there is one next year.
