Klinger at the Northcote Social Club 26/01/14
with Them Swoops and Mrs Pink Whistle

I had booked a ticket for this gig ages and go and lucky too as it sold out on the night due to the band not playing for ages. Luckily I did not have to wait for too long in Northcote after the Paradise Island gig as I left from there about 8pm and walked casually down to the venue.
It was surprising how young the audience looked as if they were going to see the band in the late 90s and early 2000s they should be older than me at least. Either that or people felt so happy about seeing Klinger they just felt a lot younger on the night.
I don't remember seeing Mrs Pink Whistle play live, although they were a bit before my time. For their big finished the lead singer had half his beard shaved off on stage.
Them Swoops still play around occasionally and I sort of remember the Hovercrafts who they played the last few songs as.
Even though I ended up being jammed in the corner for Klinger it was still a great show as the audience was so happy and singing along. Ben Birchall thanked the person who put the lyrics to their songs on the web as they had needed them recently. The names of the bands he mentioned they used to play with reminded me of the Thunderbirds are Coming Out video by TISM which Klinger was in. The show did not finish until after 1am but it was a great night and I was happy to have made it.
Hopefully Klinger plays some more shows in the future as they went to all this trouble for their reunion.
