Oakleigh Music Festival Day 2014

with Oakleigh City Band, Santa & Maria, Tracey Miller Trio, Nick Barker, Tinpan Orange, Martha Davis and the Motels, Stax On Soul Revue Band
Warrawee Park, Sunday 16th March 2013

Even though the Carnival of Suburbia was taking a break this year, the Oakleigh Music Festival still went ahead along with the festival day to conclude proceedings.

The March in March was on the same day, but I would not be able to make that and still get to see the acts I wanted to so I will have to go to the next one.

I had missed them in the past, so it was good to see the Oakleigh City Band. I also got to see the official speeches for the first time.

Santa & Maria played well to the early crowd and the weather that looked like it was going to rain. I went and got lunch and walked around a bit.

Having just played a big gig the night before, it was good Tracey Miller could still make it. Rebecca Barnard promised to fill in if Tracey's voice gave out but was not needed luckily.

Nick Barker played in a duo and went well to a building crowd.

I was glad to have been able to see Tinpan Orange at the festival day as I had something else on the next week and had to miss their gig at the Northcote Social Club.

Martha Davis and the Motels were the first international act who have played at the day. They had a gig that night at the Flying Saucer Club, which I heard went well.

Finishing off the day was the Stax On Soul Revue Band with special guest Loretta Miller who also had a big gig the night before. It was a good day and I hope it returns next year.
