The Sheona Must Go On - Sheona's Farewell Show

with Ginger and Tonic, Switch
Velvet Room at the Thornbury Theatre, Thursday 20th March 2014

I found out about this gig when I was using the Thornbury Theatre's website to book tickets for the Childwise Benefit on the same weekend. I first saw this group perform a year or so ago, but it was a big enough of an occasion that I did not want to miss it. Completely by accident I ended up having a going away show for Clare from the Nymphs the next night.

I had not been to a show in the Velvet Room since Suzannah's album launch a couple of years ago. It filled up nicely and it was more suited to a seated show any way.

First on the bill was a capella group Switch. They have three male and two female voices and perform an interesting mix of vocal and beat boxing techniques in their songs. I will look out for them.

Ginger and Tonic had recently performed at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Adelaide Fringe and Midsumma so they have been very busy and gained lots of new fans. They did do a medley of a few of the songs from the 50 Shades of Gay show. A former member who had left even returned for a few songs and the three other members did a song especially for Sheona who got to sit in the audience.

I am not sure what the group is going to do, but they have had a change over of members in the past. All the best to Sheona and I hope she has a great time in her overseas adventures.
