If You See Her, Say Hello

as part of the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival

I was umming and ahhing as to whether to go to this as I was going to be busy around Melbourne Fringe time, but when I saw Clare Hendry was going to be on the bill I wanted to see her again as I hadn't seen or talked to her since she had gone to London after the Nymphs went on indefinite hiatus. I was at a gig the day before where I found out that Jane Hendry was also going to be part of the show. It did meant I had to miss going to see Liz Stringer later in the week but it was worth it.

The gig breaks the record for the most artists I have not seen before on the one bill. Now I have all these new people to go see. A friend said "Jeez!" when I said that but I would not say that if I did not mean it.

There were a couple of groups that did a song including Broads and the Shotgun Wedding so I will still go to see them and hopefully the other performers get to do gigs together in the future.

Both the shows at the Fringe festival sold out with people even sitting on the floor. There were a lot of other musicians who went to this gig and even other people who are well into the Melbourne music scene.

The organiser Cookie Baker, who I knew from when she worked at Pure Pop and the Yarra Hotel said that it is just the first of these gigs and they may have more or less singers in future events, but they do hope to do it again.

There was meant to be a video of the event made on the second night and I hope it turns out well.

I would not hesitate to recommend any of the acts on this bill to anyone who wants to see some good music and I look forward to seeing them myself.
