with the Spazzys, the Meanies, the Fireballs, Mach Pelican
The Espy, Sunday 10th April 2011
I was looking forward to this gig as I had not seen Mach Pelican since they supported the Gimmies at the Tote almost two years ago. There were some sound problems at that gig so it wasn't perfect, but it was still good that they were playing again.
It was also great to see the Spazzys again, even if Ally wasn't playing the drums as I hadn't seen them for a while either.
I have seen the Meanies quite a bit in the past year compared to the other bands, but it was still good to see them.
It was my first time seeing the Fireballs and I was concerned that people might get a bit rough up the front (Eddie Fury encouraged it), so I stayed well back. The girls I warned about it decided to jump straight in and got stood on. I could not believe the photographer I told to look out was straight in their also.
It was a happy crowd for Mach Pelican at least so the human wave at the front was giving off good vibes at least. Even though it didn't finish until late and I had to work the next day I was still glad to have seen the bands play again for a good cause.
