with Tanya Lee Davies
Memo Music Hall, Saturday 18th June 2022
I had been looking forward to this for ages but did not end up buying a ticket until quite recently, I must remember for shows if I want to sit close to the stage.
Due to the trains and trams being delayed I didn't get to the venue until almost showtime and did not have dinner, only a packet of chips during the support slot. I was going to Topolinos after so it wasn't too bad. I just don't like having to rush to get to a gig and I would have thought two and half hours would be enough time to get from my place to St Kilda.
I did enjoy seeing Tanya Lee Davies it had been quite a few years and she had some great songs. I also liked the photos where she was making her friend laugh on stage.
Rob had said it was going to be a big show and it was with about 10 people on stage during the course of the show. There were also some guests who sang on a couple of songs on the album rather than Rob doing the main vocals. Rebecca Barnard and Kelly Day did backing vocals as they did so on the album.
During the show there was also some old favourites but no readings from his book as I think there are no new bits of that he can do now and it was not really suited for this format.
I did end up enjoying the night and ended up talking to Sarah from Drawing Straws and even Rob near the merch stand who I got to pass on the message of "GO PIES!" from Dan Warner.
Some people were kicking on up to Dogs Bar but I was pretty hungry after the show so I went to get a late dinner. Looking forward to getting the album from Bandcamp soon.
