Thornbury Theatre, Saturday 14th January 2023

While I did want to have some time off gigs due to my hip playing up I also did not want to miss this and rang ahead to make sure of access. Due to it being so hot I ended up going to Werribee on the train just so I could wait on the train and not at the station in the open as it was so hot. No trains through the loop and it always takes longer than I thought to get to this venue but I had an allocated seat (not the front rows), it was good enough and I was asked if I enjoyed the seat later.

I had heard about John Prine but for some reason only have the In Spite of Ourselves record. I missed him when he came out last and it was sad when he passed from Covid has he did not seem that old. I would have thought there would have been some tribute shows by now even with the lockdowns and not many gigs.

Suzannah and Lachlan Bryan are familiar to me but I had not seen Mike McClennan before. It turned out he was doing most of the songs in the show with Suzannah and Lachlan coming in from time to time to do a song. It turns out I know more John Prine songs than I thought and it was a fun night.

This show has finished its run for now but hopefully they will do some more shows in the future.
