Liz Stringer 28/04/23

Triple RRR FM Performance Space, Friday 28th April 2023

I wasn't going to go to this at all due to already going out on the weekend but this was going to be the last time Liz played with a band for a while plus it would save me going to the gig at the Brunswick Ballroom. I used to do this a lot more with in-stores at the Basement Discs when it was open and I was not working back in the day.

This time I made sure to ask for a chair beforehand and went to the Lomond Hotel for dinner and drinks beforehand. Good thing too as the weather turned dirty.

As it was only the one set for the radio it seemed mostly to be tunes off the latest album no matter how much people wanted to hear Wide Open Hills. Come to think of it I don't remember hearing that at the William Crighton show either. Maybe one for when she is doing solo shows?

Due to wanting to go to the toilet after and everyone rushing to the exit straight away I ended up being one of the last ones to leave so I got a photo with Liz and the band with Tim Thorpe on stage and got to talk to her after the show for the first time in two years. I do say hello on Facebook sometimes but she is very busy.

Liz is going over to the UK to record a new album and do some solo touring in Europe due to William Crighton having an injury unfortunately. Hope it goes well.
