Recollections written in 2025 as I don't trust Facebook with these photos, they need to go on my website.

From 2017 to 2018 I was not living in Melbourne but I still wanted to go down to the Community Cup even though I was going to move down the next month I had not quite found somewhere to live yet. There was a gig for Barbarion the previous night at the Tote but I did not have anywhere to stay in town. Was quite a few gigs I had missed when I was not living in Melbourne but this was not going to be one of them.

Unlike the previous year I did not need help to get down and was confident enough going on my own which was a big change.

I do remember walking around the ground and having Molly kiss me in the same spot in the grandstand as the previous year, was almost like I knew she was going to be there.

It was great to see the Cartridge Family and they treated me like I had not been anywhere and it was just a normal gig. I had missed their album launch and a lot of other gigs due to not living in Melbourne and not thinking I could make it down to see them.

Was good to see the other bands and all but I really wanted to come down to catch up with some people. I did not mind having to leave early to catch the train back to Drouin this time as long as I made it on the day. The next year I did not have enough money to go even though I was living in Melbourne at the time so I found I could miss it. In 2022 I stayed away even though I had money as I was already going to the Fitzroyalty and Punters Club gigs and just did not want to do too much. In 2024 I could not afford to go either and also missed seeing the Dirty Three due to the same reason.

Even when I did make it in 2025 I did not end up staying for all of the last band even though they were the headliner. I was considering not going back after not being able to make the match in 2019 but decided to go on the 30th anniversary and maybe every other year if I can make it. Was even able to have some time off afterwards so I could probably have stayed later but just did not want to.
