Kyü and Pikelet (solo)Empress Hotel, Sunday 11th July 2010 I was going to have the weekend off and only go to see Sally Seltmann at the Corner Hotel the night before, but for various reasons I thought I should go to see Kyü the next day as I wanted them to see them finish the song the big explosion happened during the night before. I hadn't seen Pikelet play live before either. Kyü were great and I now have another reason to go see Xiu Xiu in September as I didn't know any of the supporting bands before. I hope they come back to Melbourne soon. I had heard Pikelet do a live to air on RRR, but hadn't been to see her live before. I liked seeing her set up the loops with the instruments, it reminded me of what Mal Webb does somewhat but a bit different. It was a great show and heaps of people were there. I didn't really mean to hand my business card to Evelyn Morris' mum afterwards, was by accident (Evelyn was standing right next to her.)
