Bonsai Records Label Launch

05/05/2019

with Pollyman, Bones and Jones, DJazzysper
Gasometer Hotel, Friday 2nd August 2019

I had heard about this show a while ago and made sure not to schedule any MIFF sessions on the same night. As usual a few other gigs ended up occurring the same night but this one came first. I did get to drop off some drawings of Jane and Kel's dogs before Broads' show at the Merri Creek Tavern.

As usual I ended up arriving so early there wasn't even someone on the door. I filled in the time watching Henry Wagons doing a livestream on Instagram with his daughter Casper on harmonica and his two dogs.

Pollyman now has a bass player and especially for the night they had some new old "popcorn" shirts that looked quite fetching. I did end up recording one of their songs toward the end of their set.

I had not seen Bones and Jones before but the time they went on the room was full. I ended up sitting off to one side and the young people all got up to dance and even some of the parents.

It was a great night and I hope there are more releases from the label in the future.
