Broads "Stay Connected" Album Launch

26/26/2019

with Coda Chroma, The Smallgoods
Common Rooms, Saturday 16th November 2019

I had been looking forward to this gig for ages as the new album was about 18ths after the last release and Jane had a new bub since then.

One of the first big gigs I went to when I came back to Melbourne to live in 2018 was the Broads single release.

Broads have been playing all over and also do backing vocals for Wagons and work with a lot of other bands.

This gig was going to be one of their last for a while as they have been very busy. I put in for the Pozible to get a CD and went to see them at Rocksteady Records so I could get it signed.

Special guest for the night was Clare who I had not since she had her baby. 3/4 of the Nymphs will be as good as it gets and even that does not happen that much these days.

I did like the support acts and seeing Tim Connors there who was singing along to every single one of Broads' songs and is Facebook friends with Jane and Clare's mum. I talked to Clare about the early days of the Nymphs and found out they didn't really do that many gigs for the first five years' of their life. Must have been the RRR FM exposure that helped them along and not just me who would not shut up about them at the time. Don Walker wanted them to sing at one of his shows but no one could find a contact number for them at the time.

This was my first time at the new Common Rooms venue and I did enjoy the support bands. All new sound and lighting system too and I think the photos came up well.

The new room has better sight lines and does not have the column blocking the view from one side. New unisex toilets that each have their own sink is a great improvement as the ones in the old venue had not been updated for a century. You can now walk across to the other side of the building without having to go downstairs and there is disabled access and a lift for those who can't get up the steps.

It was a great show and I am looking forward to seeing what Broads does in the future.
