with with Dave Wright
Jimmy the Saint, Friday 27th November 2020
I had booked this in between the first and second lockdowns and decided to just let it ride since I didn't have anything better planned and did not need a refund at the time. Most of these shows were already sold out.
Finishing work earlier than usual I arrived at the venue half an hour early but did not want to have to go to the pub as it was too hot. Thanks to Dave for letting me stay and letting me start my dinner early.
Due to the current COVID19 venue restrictions there were only 15 people in this show and it was seated. I was going to leave my camera at home but was asked to bring it. For people I have already seen a lot I will just bring my drawing stuff as it is one or the other a bit too bulky for both.
Dave Wright was up first and is doing the support for all these shows to save having to book different acts each time. I had not seen him before solo but I am sure I would have crossed paths around town.
I was going back to my seat in the break and heard Rob starting. As expected he turned the big light off as it worked better anyway. There is no amplification for these gigs so it was just Rob and the guitar.
Having the audience being mostly people Rob Snarski knew already and who are familiar with his work meant that he could try a lot more new songs including one he is still in the process of finalising. There are some great songs coming on the new Song Gifts album and I have already pre-ordered. Was no reading from the book it was more a casual gig than usual and did not need that sort interval between songs.
Quite a lot more banter between Rob and the audience in this format especially since one of the audience members played with him in a band. Was an interesting experience and I will try to get to another gig in the future if there are tickets available next year.
