The Corner Hotel, Friday 3rd December 2021
I booked this one when I found out about it on the regular Tuesday night premiere of the music video for the double-concept album and introduction by Damian Cowell. There was a quiz after but I only stayed around for that once. Anything that stopped me watching the news at least once per week was good. This and life drawing over zoom was my main contact with people outside of work this year that wasn't on social media.
I wasn't sure how they were going to do this show as the concept album is not really something you can have a launch for but it turned out this show was the normal Christmas show with a few of the new songs. Unlike previous years I was not able to go out three or four nights per week from November through to Christmas and maybe five night in a row the week directly before so I had to pick early and stick with it.
This one was already booked in when I found out about Liz Stringer doing a show the same night and also Out of the Weekend was a few weeks before. I remember talking to Henry Wagons about it at the Justin Townes Earl tribute show so it was definitely early November.
It was great to see Twinkle Digitz again as I had not seen him since the time I went to see the Burnt Sausages at Moomba and then went to the Tramway and it was Emily's birthday also.
For a Christmas show it was pretty good, what surprised me is that it finished pretty much bang on 11pm and DC said everyone would appreciate being able to go home early after not going out for two years. I was hope before 1am for once which is rare when I go out to the city these days on the weekends.
