20 Years of 'Soul Journey' - a Gillian Welch tribute

I had been looking forward to this for ages and wasn't really interested in much else on this year's program to be honest, last year was a lot still with the two days at Abbotsford Convent.

For some reason I don't actually have this particular album but knew all the songs. Gillian Welch was the first artist who I purchased music of online (Blackstar and Dusty Boxcar wall). I did get to see her and David Rawlings in 2017 and even had the photo of her on the roller coaster at Luna Park on my fridge for a while.

I thought I got there plenty early but the place was already very busy and then continued to get even busier. There was not even anyone outside telling people to stop trying to get in. The place can at the most fit 80 at a tight squeeze and it seemed like a couple of hundred tried to get in.

Even though I did enjoy the first half, I was starting to feel claustrophobic and aware that I was blocking other people's views so decided to decamp to see Marcel Borrack down the road. It was good to see Vanessa one last time before she moves overseas and Ellen who just came back from holiday.
