Dan & Al Christmas Show 2023

29/29/2023

Corner Hotel, Saturday 23rd December 2023

Due to not getting home until late the previous night I was a bit slow getting to this gig. Might have been "Rachel" waylaying me on my one trip per year to the Royal Hotel on Punt Rd as there were more staff than customers there for some reason. I couldn't not stay for her dance could I? I did end up making it in time for the show and got a chair this time as I had thought I did not need one at Damian Cowell and it turns out I can't really stand the whole gig at that venue if I am taking photos. As it is just Dan and Al on stage sitting in the same spot I really only took photos of the first couple of songs. Too dark to get many audience photos my camera does not focus, took my disposable to get some shots like it was 2003.

They did move this gig from the usual Sunday before Christmas to get more people in and it worked having it almost sell out even with all the other gigs on the same night. I seriously did going to see Rhonda Burchmore's show at the Brunswick Ballroom. It was good to see Dan and Al again and I managed to predict what songs they were going to play due to where in the set they were or even Dan tuning up and playing a couple of notes. Special mention to the couple in "The Fang" t-shirts up the front and someone holding up a phone for someone who could not make it to see.

At least this year I did not need to leave early due to some idiot Uber driver. I left an hour later than last year when they reached the fucking around point of the evening and they were still going. Up to Mr Hollywood pizza for an Aussie and get the train home an hour earlier than the previous night but still went to bed late or I would not have looked at the photos until after Christmas. See you next year.
