The Detonators 30/04/23

11/11/2023

Union Hotel Brunswick, Sunday 30th April 2023

Ilana had told me about this show ages ago for her birthday and if I missed it I would never have heard the end of it. The last time I heard from Ilana was when she told me to delete a photo I never even knew someone had sent me on Facebook. The last time I had seen her was at Easter 2022. Her birthday gig is around the same time every year and I have been even when I wasn't living in Melbourne at the time.

It had been quite a while since I saw the Detonators too, I used to see them a lot back in 2006 or so and even saw them on the Blues Train at the Queenscliff Music Festival. They still have the album for sale where they used my photos for it which was a while ago now.

I do not know why Ilana waited until everyone wanted to leave to do the cake, could easily have done it in the set break. Oh well it was only once a year. Due to Ilana wanting me to stay later I ended up getting a Didi ride home, never again. That dude stunk so much I thought only taxi drivers could smell so much. Also that service is a 100% rip off and based on false numbers, at least Uber says the real price up front.
