Eilen Jewell - Celebrating the Music of Loretta Lyn

25/25/2023

with Katie Bates
Brunswick Ballroom, Sunday 12th March 2023

I was pumped for this as the other dates did not work for me and I had not seen Eilen Jewell for a while.

It was cool seeing Katie Bates again as I had last seen her playing with Ben Mastwyk's band.

Eileen Jewell got through the Loretta Lyn songs a bit quicker than she thought and they ended up doing "the pill" also she played Queen of the Minor Key for the first time on tour and "79 Cents in the Dollar" as people were asking for her to play it (she doesn't play it unless requested.)

I ended up staying right to the end and after so I could talk to Eileen Jewell again even though it meant getting home late (no work the next day). Probably should not have reminded her of the "shaking her tiny fist" story but I do love the photo I got of her when she was talking about it a few years back.

Unfortunately I missed getting a copy of the new album (they only bought 50 on tour) but I did buy Gypsy and got it signed and a double live album.

Thanks to Vanessa for getting me a seat so I did not keep having to go up to the back when my leg got sore.
